A barber was excited to see her new business in Southport open this year – only for the grand opening to be delayed by the unexpected arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Eloise Ashcroft, who runs RHR Male Grooming on Upper Aughton Road in Birkdale, is now enjoying a busy Christmas season and is looking forward to a good 2021.
Stand Up For Southport recently published a feature on a number of new businesses which have opened in Southport this year, despite the pandemic.
These are business owners who are launching their new ventures in the toughest of times and deserve all the support they can get.
Ella said: “I have been in the barbering industry for 23 years and have watched the craft evolve in that time.
“I have participated in stage work and also appeared in various barber magazines.
“I have a teaching degree and teach barbering at Colleges in the North West of England.
“My barber shop brings the male grooming experience from a vintage feel right up to current times including skin fades and beard sculpting, with a wide customer base from the young to the older gentlemen. I have a wide range of services and products in store.
“I accept booked appointments only, and face masks must be worn at all times.
“I was due to open on 14th April this year but due to Covid I could not open until the 4th July.
“It has been a tough one this year! Things are going great.

“I have a large customer base. I worked over in Wigan for 17 years and my customers still travel to Southport for their haircut, when Codi restrictions allow, alongside some from Preston, the Lake District and even one from Scotland. That’s loyalty hey!
“I taught barbering at Wigan & Leigh College but haven’t done any for a couple of years having other commitments with work life.
“The people of Birkdale are amazing and I’ve had nothing but support from the local business and community.”
