Colleagues at TK Maxx in Southport town centre have been well and truly spotted today – as they dress up as Cruella De Vil and the 101 Dalmatians!

Staff at the thriving store, inside the Marble Place shopping centre on Chapel Street, are continuing their fundraising efforts for Comic Relief.

They have been inviting shoppers to join them in various fundraising activities on Saturdays this February, with a tombola day followed by a Valentine’s hamper / find the Queen of Hearts event, and then a Shaun the Sheep Day.

Today (Saturday 24th february 2024) they are fundraising with a 101 Dalmatians theme.

That will be followed by:

Saturday 2nd March: Book Stall

Saturday 9th March: Southport Rocks

Saturday 16th March: Wallace and Gromit

TK Maxx Southport Duty Manager Joanne Rimmer said: “We have got lots happening at TK Maxx in the lead up to Red Nose Day!

“This Saturday we are fundraising with a 101 Dalmatians theme, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

“We would love to see people coming down and seeing what’s going on, please donate if you can.

“Our Store Manager James will be dressing up as Cruella De Vil, and bringing his dog along.

“We have something happening every Saturday.

“Coming up soon we will have ‘Southport Rocks’, where we are all dressing up as rock stars!

“We have a team of 33 working here, and everyone is enjoying getting involved. It’s really great for team building and making this an enjoyable place to work.

“There is lots of fundraising going on, with raffles, tombolas, we had a book stall for World Book Day, all kinds of different ways for customers to get involved and raise funds for a superb cause.

“We are not asking people for a lot, just throw a few coins in, but when everyone does that, it can soon all add up.

“Our store has some fabulous Comic Relief merchandise available at the moment too, with some great t-shirts and other items on sale.

“TK Maxx outlets across the UK are taking part in this fundraising initiative.

“When Red Nose Day takes place all the places involved will present our final cheques, and we will find out how much we have raised in total.

“We really enjoy doing this every year, and really appreciate all the support from local people.”

TK Maxx opened its doors in the Marble Place shopping centre on Chapel Street in Southport town centre in 1999. It was one of the very first TK Maxx stores to arrive in the UK.

The store enjoys a huge following among shoppers in Southport and from further afield.

It has been such a popular location among customers that the firm carried out ambitious expansion plans a few years ago, really cementing its place not only as the anchor store for Marble Place, but also as one of the major shopping destinations in Southport town centre.
