Hundreds of teddy bears are looking for new homes in Southport this weekend – and they need your help!

The TK Maxx store at Marble Place on Chapel Street, in Southport town centre, is inviting families from far and wide to come and enjoy its very special Teddy Bear Rehoming Day event this Saturday (8th March 2025).

Excited children will be able to choose their perfect soft toy to take home with them, from over 800 available!

The toys can be taken home in return for a donation to Comic Relief, which TK Maxx stores in Southport and across the country are doing all they can to support this month.

It will be a fun day for families in Southport, with a face painter from Sparkle Monster on hand from 11am, and balloons being given out.

The team in Southport have also created a fantastic lip sync video to the tune of Elton John’s ‘I’m Still Standing’, filmed at the store and in locations around the town, including on Southport Beach.

TK Maxx Southport Assistant Manager Carole Clarke said: “We would love to see everybody coming into TK Maxx this Saturday to have a look at which teddy bears they can rehome!

“We have over 800 teddy bears available, of all varieties. We have bears; we have unicorns; we have frogs; we have big ones, small ones, something for everyone!

“We have three which were from Harrods.

“They have all been kindly donated by members of the public, and also from our fellow TK Maxx stores across Merseyside and also in the North East.

“We have lots of excellent Comic Relief clothing and merchandise on sale in our store too.

“We are due to have good weather on Saturday so we would love to see as many people from around the region coming into Southport to visit us and to enjoy a great day out in the town.

“There are lots of things happening for families to enjoy, including the ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt Trail’ which has been really popular!

“We will have rehoming certificates to give away with our bears, and we can’t wait to see everyone for what is going to be a really fun day.”
