The team at The Pines, at Redgate Primary School in Formby, have been praised for “always going above and beyond” to support children and their families.
They were recognised as a Finalist in the prestigious Sefton School Of The Year Award sponsored by Southport Education Group.
They received several nominations for the accolade, impressing judges at the 2026 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards as the event took place at The Grand in Southport.
One nomination said: “The staff in The Pines always go above and beyond for the young children and their families, they create a welcoming, happy, fun and supportive learning environment and the children love being in school.
“The staff have a lovely bond with the children and they work extremely hard to provide the SEND support they need.
“They have a great team work ethos, they are skilled, knowledgeable and caring, supporting children with complex medical needs and SEND.
“They are all shining stars, always going the extra mile to be the best school they can be.”
Another nomination said: “The Pines is such a happy unit at Redgate Primary School that have accepted children with extremely complex needs with open arms.
“The staff really do go above and beyond for each and everyone of them always with the children’s best interests and happiness in all that they do.
“They go out of their way to support families to make sure their children’s needs are being met.
“They really do deserve to be acknowledged for all the wonderful things they do.
“It really does stand out and the staff are second to none.”
The 2026 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards celebrated selfless, talented and courageous people across 13 categories at The Grand in Southport on 24th April 2026.
The Main Award was won by Queenscourt Hospice founder Dr Karen Groves MBE.
The evening was hosted by former Sky Sports News presenter Fraser Dainton with VIP guests including HM Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside Peter Oliver OBE and Mayor of Sefton Cllr Burns.
Funds were raised on the night for the ICU Steps charity, which supports patients in intensive care and their families.
The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards are organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport in association with media partners In Demand Radio with support from Southport BID.
There are 13 categories including Child of Courage, School Of The Year, Community Impact, Charity Champion and more, plus the Main Award.
Next year’s event takes place on Friday 30th April 2027.
