Hundreds of works of art created by talented artists from across Sefton will go on display in a free exhibition opening in Southport this weekend.

The Sefton Open opens at The Atkinson on Lord Street in Southport this Saturday (9th April 2022) with the exhibition running until 21st May 2022.

It is the first chance that visitors will have been able to see this popular annual event in person for three years, with the Covid pandemic and its lockdowns taking their toll.

People are being invited to vote for your favourite artwork, with the winner being awarded The People’s Prize.

Most of the art on display is available for purchase.

An Atkinson spokesperson said: “This is a chance to discover the wealth of artistic talent across Sefton, with an open exhibition in The Atkinson galleries where anyone who lives or works in the borough can submit work.

“The Sefton Open is an annual exhibition celebrating the creativity and artistic talent across the borough.

“In 2022 The Atkinson welcomes the return of the exhibition into their galleries, as 2020 and 2021 were presented online.

“The Sefton Open is a brilliant opportunity for local artists, groups and societies to exhibit together and to showcase their artwork. To submit artwork you must either live, work or have been educated in Sefton. All practices are welcome including ceramics, sculpture, painting, textiles and photography.
