The Great Big Green Lunch is back in Southport for a second year this summer!

This huge community event is organised by The Hearth CIC and will take place at Southport Market 12pm-4pm on Sunday 7th June 2026. Food will be served 12pm-2pm.

Enjoy live music, a baking competition, crafts and activities.

People can also bring a dish to share with the community!

It’s a chance to make how we eat part of the solution: boosting health, building community, and reducing environmental impact one bite at a time.

Last year’s event was held at Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street, with Southport Market the venue this year.

The Hearth directors Rebecca Armstrong and Nadia Speers-Robinson said:

“We’re doing it again – and even bigger this time!

“On Sunday 7th June 2026, The Hearth is delighted to be hosting the second Great Big Green Lunch, returning once again as a joyful coming-together of neighbours, families, friends and community groups to share food, music, conversation and laughter in the heart of our town.

“Just like last year, this event sits proudly at the meeting place of The Eden Project’s Big Lunch and The Climate Coalition’s Great Big Green Week – celebrating community, care for one another and care for the planet, all through the simple, powerful act of spending time together around a shared table.

“This year, we’re excited to add another layer to that spirit of togetherness by working with the Jo Cox Foundation, making our Great Big Green Lunch part of The Great Get Together too – strengthening the same values that have always been at the heart of the day: kindness, connection and celebrating what unites us.

“We would love local community groups and organisations to be part of this growing celebration – whether that’s by sharing food, music, creativity, stories or simply your presence. The more voices, dishes and conversations around the table, the richer the day becomes.

“Another huge thank you to Sefton Council for supporting the event and allowing us to use the market space – we’re incredibly excited to bring the celebration to the newly pedestrianised area, which truly feels like the perfect setting for a great big community street party, filled with colour, warmth and life.

“Bring your neighbours, bring your friends, bring something to share if you can – and come and be part of a day that reminds us how powerful it is when we gather, together.”

The Hearth CIC is a community organisation based in Sefton that hosted its first big event, Earth Day, at Wayfarers Arcade in Southport in April 2025.

This free, family-friendly event celebrated sustainability and empowered attendees with practical ways to save money on energy bills while making a positive impact on the planet.

Plans are already underway to create an even bigger Earth Day event for 2026 as well as for another Great Big Green Lunch.
