Do you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the local community in Sefton?

The Pride Of Sefton Main Award, sponsored by Mikhail Hotel And Leisure Group, is looking to celebrate someone truly inspirational – and we need YOUR help to let us who it should be.

Whoever wins will be honoured at the prestigious 2024 Pride Of Sefton Awards ceremony at the Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Friday, 26th April 2024.

Please submit your entry here:prideofseftonawards.co.uk or email your nominations to: standupforsouthport@gmail.com

The awards are organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport in association with In Demand Radio.

Last year’s Main Award winner was the incredible Kath Wilson.

There was a standing ovation and a huge round of applause when Kath’s name was read out as she was called to the stage to collect her award by hosts Claire Simmo and Fraser Dainton.

Kath has spent the past 35 years campaigning to launch and operate the Southport Lifeboat charity, after the tragic death of her beloved son, Geoff Clements, off the Sefton coast in 1987.

The inspirational fundraiser has helped to generate over £1.4 million in public donations to open a brand new Southport Lifeboat Station.

Scores of people owe their lives to Kath’s work, and to the Southport Lifeboat crew members and volunteers, thanks to the number of people rescued off the Sefton coast.

Mikhail Hotel And Leisure Group Chairman Andrew Mikhail said:

“It was a sensational moment when Kath’s name was announced and she walked up on stage to collect her award to huge cheers and a well deserved standing ovation.

“Everyone in Sefton knows just what Kath has achieved; how many lives she has saved through her campaigning; and also the tireless work she puts in, day after day, year after year, to ensure that no other family has to go through the grief that she did when she so tragically lost her son.

“We are so lucky to have Kath. So many families have her to thank for the rescue of their loved ones.

“We were delighted to have been able to thank Kath for what she does and to give her the thanks and applause that she so thoroughly deserves.

“Now we need your help. Who else in Sefton goes that extra mile to make such a huge difference to our local community?

“Please let us know, so we can honour them at this year’s Pride Of Sefton Awards.”
