The Carlton bar in Southport town centre is back open again this Saturday (2nd May 2026) all ready for a busy summer season!
The iconic live music venue, on Lord Street, is reopening from 1pm onwards with a brand new cocktail menu and wine menu for customers to enjoy.
The Carlton welcomes back customers at the perfect time, for a busy May Bank Holiday weekend which will see the Big Top Festival taking place across Saturday and Sunday.
The Festival sees 18 performances on five stages in Southport town centre.
Visitors to The Carlton can expect live music during the afternoon with a DJ on Saturday evening.
The Carlton will then be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with live music to enjoy every Saturday and Sunday.
The bar has long been renowned for its famous beer garden, with the sun moving to shine on that side of Lord Street during afternoons.
The Carlton is owned by local businessman Carl White who also owns The Auld Dubliner Irish pub on Lord Street along with The Avenue and The Chop House on Scarisbrick Avenue.
It means people can start out in The Carlton before making their way across the other bars, all four of which are well-known for their excellent live music and lively atmospheres.

“The Carlton is a real sun trap, it’s a great place to sit back with a few friends and a few drinks and enjoy live music.
“We are unveiling new cocktail and wine menus as we reopen.
“This is a really exciting year for Southport, with the four major new events, including the Big Top Festival this weekend, and The Open Golf Championship coming this summer too.
“Southport town centre should be packed this weekend! There are so many performances taking place.
