One of the world’s top touring circus acts will be giving free performances for families in Southport as part of the Big Top Festival this May Bank Holiday Weekend.
Circa will be performing ‘Wolf’ at Stage One in the ‘Town Hall Gardens on Lord Street in Southport town centre PR8 1DA:
Saturday – 12:00-12:30 & 14:15-14:45
Sunday – 12:30-1:00 & 14:30-15:00
Since 2004, Circa have called Brisbane, Australia, home while touring the world, captivating audiences in over 45 countries and reaching more than two million people.
Under the visionary leadership of Yaron Lifschitz, and in collaboration with their extraordinary ensemble of circus artists, they craft a diverse array of productions that constitute “a revolution in the spectacle of circus” (Les Echos).
Each year they tour their shows across the world and premiere multiple new creations.

Clad in designer Libby McDonnell’s form-hugging costumes and set to DJ Ori Lichtik’s relentless primal rhythms, the cast of ten extraordinary Circa artists grasp, tear, climb, leap and balance with fierce abandon.
For Director Yaron Lifschitz, the wolf is a symbol of our untameable selves: liberating, anarchic and savage.
In two contrasting acts, the wolves evolve from disruptive forces of chaos into a ferocious pack whose intense choreographies overflow with raw energy and astounding physicality.

You can explore all the interactive fun taking place for free across FIVE stages situated on Lord Street and the surrounding area in Southport town centre this Saturday and Sunday (2nd and 3rd May 2026).
Visitors will be able to clown around, stilt walk and juggle alongside world-class circus acts.
The Big Top Festival will see Southport town centre transformed like never before.
Expect breathtaking acrobatics and daring aerial displays with a talented line-up of acts from across the globe as well as from Southport itself.
As well as being free to attend, the event will also be part of the Merseyrail £2 deal where train travel from anywhere on the Merseyrail Network to Southport is only £2 for adults and £1 for children return on the event days.
The Big Top Festival is among a series of major new Southport 2026 attractions including Lightport and Books Alive! plus established local major events such as Southport Flower Show, Southport Air Show and Southport Comedy Festival, that are coming to Southport throughout 2026.
The 154th Open Golf Championship is also returning to Royal Birkdale in Southport this summer.
