Work is under way to improve two historic parks in Southport town centre ready to look their best for the busy summer season.
It means a welcome facelift for Kings Gardens, which hosts popular local attractions including Masters Crazy Golf, the Southport Model Railway Village and the miniature railway.
Improvements are also taking place at nearby Princes Park.
Both parks are operated and maintained by Sefton Council.

At Kings Gardens, all of the Victorian shelters have been power washed, patch painted, and damaged glazing has been replaced.
All decorative lighting is in the process of being painted (approximately 120 lights), and the vandalised lights are being replaced on the Venetian Bridge.
All benches are being oiled and patch-painted where required.

The Venetian Bridge is booked in to be patch-painted and damaged wood replaced in July.
Sefton says that “bollards are being installed this month to make the gardens a pedestrianised zone. Rogue parking in the gardens has become untenable, requiring immediate and drastic action.”

At Princes Park, all shrubs encroaching on the pathways within the park have been cut back.
Sefton said: “The effect has a number of improvements; aesthetically it’s much tidier, reduced the ability for rough sleepers to camp in the area, and exposed the paths for the public to use. “Bollards are being serviced, new locks, painted, etc.”
