The Summer Dog Festival is coming to Southport. ITV's Dr Scott Miller

A Summer Dog Festival is coming to Southport! 

The event will take place at Victoria Park in Southport – home to the world famous Southport Flower Show – on Saturday, 29th June 2024 and Sunday, 30th June 2024. 

The festival is organised by Dogs Direct UK

Pet owners will be able to enjoy appearances by ITV’s Dr Scott Miller, the West Lancs Dog Display Team, Ann DeRizzio with Heel To Music, John Allison from the K9 Way, plus much more. 

A Dogs Direct UK spokesperson said: “Don’t miss Dogs Direct UK’s Summer Dog Festival extravaganza at Victoria  Park, Southport! 

“It will be a weekend packed with all things dog, with guest speakers including ITV’s Dr Scott Miller and demonstrations from the  West Lancs dog display team, Ann DeRizzio’s ‘Dancing with Dogs’ and much  much more!”

Dogs Direct is proud to announce the attendance of Myerscough College, presenting a Canine First Aid course. The team will cover all things related to first aid, including CPR and how to protect your dog from choking.

Also starring will be with Heel to Music. Ann DeRizzio and her team will host multiple demonstrations throughout the weekend, providing you with the chance to discover exciting new moves for your furry companions. 

Dive into the world of heel to music and see if you and your canine companion have what it takes to shine on the big stage. 

West Lancs Dog Display Team will present some stunning displays. 

This passionate group, dedicated to captivating audiences since 1992, consists of both children and adults who share a deep love for training dogs.

Speakers include Dr Scott Miller.

The resident vet for ITV show This Morning is actively travelling to and from Ukraine to help with the animals in need over there. 

Dr Scott will be taking all things animal welfare, how to spot signs of an unhappy or unhealthy dog.

Another guest speaker is John Allison from the K9 Way.

John will talk about the importance of ‘Recall, Lead Control and lead reactivity’, topics at the forefront of being a responsible owner.

Step into the ring with a variety of classes to see who will be crowned the Best in Show at Dogs Direct UK’s Summer Festival. From Prettiest Pooch to the Most Mischievous you can find a class for everyone. 

Dogs Direct UK is committed to supporting shelters and rescues throughout the UK, enabling them to sustain their admirable efforts. The funds they generate, along with a portion of ticket sales, will play a vital role in saving dogs nationwide.

Charities supported by this event include: Barking Mad – Bull Breed Rescue; Carla Lane Animals in Need; and Senior Staffy Club.
