The days are getting longer, the flowers are beginning to bloom, and there’s a fresh sense of renewal in the air—spring has officially arrived in Southport! As nature awakens, it’s the perfect time to shake off the winter blues, step outside, and give back to your community.
Volunteering is a fantastic way to enjoy the great outdoors while making a real difference. Whether it’s joining a local beach clean-up, helping out at a community garden, or supporting a local charity event, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Not only will you be doing something positive for Southport, but you’ll also enjoy the benefits of fresh air, exercise, and meeting like-minded people.

Friends of Rotten Row
Friends of Rotten Row are a group of volunteers who help look after the almost kilometre long herbaceous border, near Victoria Park in Southport. They are currently looking for new volunteers to help them keep this iconic piece of Southport looking its best. Find out more about getting involved here.
Special one-off taster session with Friends of Rotten Row
Join Volunteer Centre Sefton for a one-off special taster session with Friends of Rotten Row. Taking place on Monday 31 March, from 10 am – 3 pm, you can give volunteering a go without giving any commitment. You can join us for garden maintenance for the whole day or for a couple of hours, it is up to you. Places are limited, so please sign up here.
Walk leaders NCT
NCT Southport, Ormskirk and Formby are looking for walk leader volunteers to help lead Walk & Talk Sessions. These sessions are a vital resource for new parents to meet other new parents in the area. You will only need to volunteer for a couple of hours a week and if you have your own baby or toddler you can bring them along too. They are also looking for help with social media. Apply here.
Air Ambulance event volunteer- Liverpool Half Marathon
North West Air Ambulance Charity is this year’s partner charity for Liverpool Half Marathon! They are seeking volunteers to help on the day in pairs and small teams on Sunday 23rd March at Liverpool’s Pier Head from 8am-1pm.Volunteers need to be 16 + – so a great option for those doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Volunteer roles on the day include greeting and stewarding runners to the start line, handing out medals at the finish line, manning NWAA gazebos and chatting with the public, and running a bucket collection in pairs. Find out more here.
Bucket Collection Volunteers Needed for Aintree Grand National
St Joseph’s Hospice are looking for enthusiastic and friendly bucket collectors to help raise vital funds for the hospice during the Aintree Grand National. Volunteers will need to be available on Thursday, 3rd April 3 pm – 6 pm. Can you spare a few hours for a worthy cause? Find out more here.
Disney Quiz Event Volunteer
Sefton 4 Good are looking for reliable, friendly and approachable volunteers to support their Disney tea time quiz night. The event is on Thursday, 10th April at Southport Market from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm. They will need volunteers to come at 4 pm to help set up. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in events or for someone wanting to give volunteering a go.
The ideal volunteer will be able to represent the charity alongside staff members, help to set up and pack away event items, speak to attendees, sell raffle tickets, welcome attendees, promote the charity and support the events team. Apply Today.
