A kind-hearted Southport schoolgirl is undergoing the big chop to help children who lose their hair through cancer.
Daisy McKone, aged 9 has set up a JustGiving fundraising page for donations as she prepares to get her hair cut short for the Little Princess Trust.
People can listen all about the Birkdale Primary School’s brave challenge on the Cassie James radio show on Mighty FM from 10am this Wednesday (6 January).
Claire Dixon, who set up the appeal, said: “Daisy is getting the big chop for Little Princess Trust because She wants to raise money for children’s wigs.
“Daisy would like to cut her hair short, just like her Mum’s, and I told her about how we can donate her beautiful hair to a charity which will use it to make amazing wigs for children who lose their hair when they are sick!
“We want to raise about £250 and only have two months to do it so please please can everyone donate to this amazing cause!”
A Little Princes Trust spokesperson said: “When a child loses their hair to cancer or another condition, we’ll be there with a free, real hair wig to help restore their confidence and identity. “We won’t stop until the research that we fund ends childhood cancer forever. Promise. Please visit us at www.littleprincesses.org.uk to find out how you can help us give young people back what cancer takes away.
“The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers. We receive no formal funding. Please help to raise money for us so that we can help more families.”
