Southport children have taken part in Southport MP Damien Moore's 2022 Christmas Card Competition, with cards presented to King Charles III, other members of the Royal Family, the Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, and organisations across Southport. The competition was won by Emma, aged 10, from Linaker Primary School

A 10-year-old Southport schoolgirl has seen her winning Christmas card design being sent to King Charles III, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and other people around the UK.

Emma, aged 10, a Year 6 pupil from Linaker Primary School was delighted to win Southport MP Damien Moore’s 2022 Christmas Card Competition.

Her winning design features a scene inside a home, with a roaring log fire, a Christmas tree, presents around the tree, Father Christmas’s feet disappearing up the chimney and a winking elf.

In November, primary schools across Southport were invited to take part in the competition, with their pupils being asked to design the front cover to the local MP’s Christmas Card.

Hundreds of submissions were received from schools across the town.

The winner, Emma, was chosen from Linaker Primary School, with her design featuring an Elf on the (festively decorated!) shelf.

Emma’s artwork will appear on some 700 Christmas cards which are being sent by Mr Moore to King Charles III, other members of the Royal Family, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Members of Parliament, and organisations across Southport.

Damien Moore, Member of Parliament for Southport, said:

“Many congratulations to Emma from Linaker Primary School for winning my 2022 Christmas Card Competition with her fantastic Elf on a Shelf design.

“This week I sent out some 700 cards to members of the Royal Family, including HM King Charles III, Members of Parliament, and organisations right across Southport.

“I’d also like to say well done to runners-up Ella, Umaiza, Zuzanna, and Olivia. Amid very tough competition, their designs stood out from the hundreds submitted by primary schools across Southport.

“I stopped by the Prime Minister’s office and gave him his card in person – he was thoroughly impressed by all the designs!”
