Southport Rugby Football Club announced the launch of its new playing kit and leisure wear, the new kit coincides with the clubs celebratory 150th season

Southport Rugby Football Club has revealed its new kit to mark its celebratory 150th season.

Situated on Waterloo Road, Southport RFC is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the country.

This coming season marks 150 years since rugby was first played in Southport.

As well as being one of the region’s oldest sports clubs, it is also one of the largest amateur sports clubs in the region, with over 350 mini and junior members, 150 senior men and women members as well as over 300 parent/patron members. Southport RFC is positively placed to run another 150 years.

The kit has been produced by O’Neill’s Sportswear which has  supplied the club’s playing kit and leisurewear for the last seven years.

Paul Berry from O’Neills said: “We’re delighted to be able to continue our partnership with Southport RFC which will take us to at least the end of season 2024/25.

“This will take us to 10 years of supplying the club which is all credit to the club committee for keeping the core products and kit designs fresh and on trend.

“For the first time we’ll be offering an off field range which is personalised and bespoke to Southport RFC to give the clubs its own identity which I’m sure will be really well received by the players, parents and wider club members.”

As with any amateur club Southport RFC is grateful to a number of club sponsors whose contribution enables the club to provide playing kit for members.

Adam Watt of EFT Systems, the club’s main sponsor, said: “EFT has always been committed to supporting the communities that we serve and creating opportunities for all.

“Our continued support of SRFC ensures that we are able to offer work opportunities and it is our pleasure to see results of our contribution both on and off the playing fields.”

Other sponsors include: Fletchers Solicitors, Halcyon (IT Services and Consulting), Facilit8, DR&P Insurance Brokers and Southport Market.

Alex Fusco of Facilit8 said: “I have supported the club for many years and very much look forward to continuing to do so.

“I see the impact that the club has on the hundreds of kids that play week in and week out, the enjoyment that they get and the friendships that they form, in a safe environment that not only teaches them about rugby but most of all about respect and attitude.”

John Vandermeer, Chairman of Southport Rugby club said: “We are extremely fortunate to have such loyal and supportive sponsors who have helped the club develop and grow.  We are delighted that O’Neill’s will continue to provide our new kit which we are proud to launch as we commence our 150th year celebration.”

A Southport Market spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the incredible Southport Rugby Club with a kit sponsorship.

“Much like Southport Market, the team keeps going from strength to strength and we’ll be ready to serve the team with victory meals and drinks after every win!”

The new team playing kit and leisure wear will be available to purchase from either the club shop, open every Sunday morning throughout the season and most Saturday afternoons or online from O’Neills Sportswear.

There will also be a number of special 150th celebration items exclusive for this season including a club heritage shirt also available from the club shop only.
