Southport Royal British Legion has set up a gazebo next to The Monument in Southport selling poppies this week.
This Sunday will see Remembrance services take place in Southport, Ainsdale, Formby, and other locations across Sefton.
This year’s Southport Poppy Appeal was launched at Southport Town Hall on Saturday (6th November).
Royal British Legion Southport Branch along with local veterans (veterans in Sefton), the Mayor of Sefton Cllr Clare Carragher and Cadets launched the appeal.
Veterans have set up a gazebo at the Cenotaph on Lord Street with the Poppy Appeal merchandise.
Anyone who wishes to support the appeal can pop down to donate between the hours of 9:45a and 4pm everyday this week.
This is with the exception of this Thursday (11th November) when veterans and the public will be observing the two minutes silence at 11am.
This weekend Sefton will once again fall silent to remember those who died in conflict, with a number of Remembrance Day services taking place across the borough.
The 2021 Remembrance Day events, held this Sunday (November 14), will mark a return to full public services following restrictions that were placed on gatherings in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mayor of Sefton Cllr Clare Carragher, Councillors and other Sefton Council representatives will join veterans, Armed Forces personnel, community leaders and members of the community in paying their respects
Residents are fully encouraged to attend any of the eleven services which will be held around the borough from 10:30am onwards, however all attendees are asked to observe social distancing where possible and be respectful of others during the service.
Anyone displaying signs and symptoms of Covid-19 are kindly asked to take a lateral flow test to ensure they are negative before attending.
Mayor of Sefton Cllr Clare Carragher, will attend a morning service at the War Memorial in King’s Garden, Bootle from 10.30am before joining members of the community in Formby for a special afternoon service at Holy Trinity Church, Rosemary Lane from 2.45pm.
Other services are to be held in Aintree, Ainsdale, Crosby, Hightown, Ince Blundell, Litherland, Maghull, Southport and Waterloo.
As with previous years members of the public are asked to arrive at a service in plenty of time. This is due to the high volume of residents expected to turn out to pay their respects.
Cllr Clare Carragher, said: “This year carries an extra special significance as it is the first time we are all able to join together publicly once more to pay our respects.
“Remembrance Day Services are a time when we reflect and give thanks to all those brave souls past and present who have given their lives for our freedoms, while honouring serving members of the Armed Forces in recognition of their continued selflessness.
“We are grateful of the widespread support our virtual services received in 2020 and we look forward to a return to normal Remembrance Day events but I would like to remind everyone that we need to ensure we all keep ourselves and each other safe.
“Please be respectful of the views of others, take care to socially distance where possible and if you are displaying symptoms of potential Covid-19, please take a lateral flow test to ensure you are negative.”
