Southport Piano Academy is urging people to ‘Pick Up Your Instrument!’ and help to raise money to help Cassie James throughout September.
The Academy has launched a sponsored September Practice For All initiative with a prize incentive.
People who take part and those who support them are being asked to donate funds towards an appeal for Southport radio presenter Cassie James.
In July this year, Mighty FM presenter Cassie said she was “devastated, heartbroken and scared” after being told by doctors that she has just six months left to live.
The 60-year-old mum-of-two, who has cancer in her skin, leg, lungs and breast, has one chance of staying alive longer – if she can raise enough money for unique treatment in Israel, which will cost £120,000.
Southport Piano Academy Principal Claire Kelly said: “The prize for the most practice done is a Mystery Gift Hamper, but we can reveal that it will include cinema vouchers and goodies amongst other things!“
The practicathon is for all of the Academy’s 200+ pupils in the area on all instruments, but they are encouraging anyone else in Southport with a musical ability to download a sponsor form and join in!.
Claire Kelly said: “Pick up your instrument and dust it off to play and raise for Cassie James! ” “Let’s play music for Cassie for the whole of September and fill up our sponsor forms.
“Please help us to make a worthwhile contribution to this cause.”
Following Southport Piano Academy’s recent summer concert which raised £800 for the Make A Change For Botanic Gardens campaign, this will be the Academy’s next fundraising event to add to their £13,000 charity total.
The Academy teaching team is growing all the time and the latest two additions this month to the 20 staff are Craig Manchester, jazz pianist and Ian Wells, organist and pianist.
