Southport Matters a community campaign for 2026, funded by Lloyds Bank Foundation and operated by Compassion Acts.
It evolved from listening exercises undertaken by the office of Southport MP Patrick Hurley in 2025.
Lots of ideas emerged, including opportunities for residents to gather ideas about renewing Lord Street.

Last year, following the success of the ‘Southport Ideas’ events, over 400 suggestions were submitted by local people.
A key theme from the meetings was the need to improve Lord Street, with ideas ranging from public art installations in empty shop windows to repurposing upstairs spaces.
Southport Matters was launched to help bring some proactive ideas to life and strengthen local communities.
Thanks to £55,000 of investment secured by Patrick Hurley MP from the Lloyds Bank Foundation and with Compassion Acts acting as fiscal host, the project is supporting residents to transform their ideas into real, community-led initiatives.
Richard Owens is leading the project, providing guidance, practical help and support.
