Following Sefton’s great initiative and promise on Climate Change Emergency Implementation Plan, Norman Wallis CEO of Southport Pleasureland earlier this year revealed his commitment for the family attraction to become the first net zero carbon theme park in the UK.
Today he has revealed exciting plans for a brand new Dinosaur Park in Southport that will lead the way in environmentally friendly attractions.
This ambitious initiative is driven by his concerns over climate change and his desire to support our younger generations.
Norman Wallis said: “Greta Thunberg spoke at the UN Climate Action Summit in late 2019 challenging everyone with her emotional and now infamous ‘How dare you’ speech, and this really struck a chord with me. How dare we not protect our planet for future generations. We must do everything we can to work towards net zero carbon in every aspect of our businesses. This is why I’m fully supportive of Sefton Council’s ambitions as outlined in their promise on Climate Change Emergency Implementation Plan, and am working to reflect their strategies in all that we do in order to mirror their environmental ambitions.

“We will be working to sustainability best practice targets in the development of all future development aspects of our wider attractions mix. The new Dinosaur Park attraction which will be located on the site of the former pitch and putt will include: life-size replica dinosaurs, a Virtual Reality dinosaur experience, elevated walkways, ranger guided tours, a walk-through exhibition, a dinosaur dig, fun interactive displays and much more besides. The new dinosaur park is designed to attract visitors to the region throughout the year, and is aimed at children and adults of all ages.
Southport Pleasureland CEO Norman Wallis said: “I am very pleased to share our plans for this exciting new dinosaur park attraction in Southport.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has hampered our progress for the past two years, but now we are really looking forward to moving this project forward.
“This will be an attraction that is aimed at children and adults of all age groups, combining fun and entertainment with education – ‘edutainment’.
“It will be perfect to attract schools from across the country.

“Our new dinosaur park will provide a substantial boost to Sefton’s tourism sector and the local economy, attracting visitors 12 months of the year which will have a positive impact on local hotels, guest houses, restaurants and shops – bringing more people to stay in the region’s hotels, shop in the region’s shops and eat in the region’s restaurants.”
