Southport Market is celebrating its first birthday with a very special event this July!

People are being invited to join in the celebrations with a Birthday Bonanza All-Dayer between 10am and 5pm on Friday, 22nd July 2022. Admission is free.

A Southport Market spokesperson said: “Celebrate our first birthday with events and entertainment throughout the entire day and evening!

“Kick off the day and your summer with our fantastic family fun and entertainment from bouncy castles to dance workshops, crafts, soft-play and face painting.

“The party continues with the incredible Mark Pickup from Southport TV and the soul sensation Dave Broe hosting and DJing our birthday celebrations into the night!

“Bring your dancing shoes, hit the dancefloor, then boogie the night away and sing along with Dave Broe’s live set at 7.30pm!

“It’s a day and night that can’t be missed! Come and celebrate with us!”

Some children’s activities will be charged for on the day by each individual business. The full list of activities and timings will be released soon.

The new look Southport Market was transformed into an exciting new food, drink and events venue last year, opening on 22nd July 2021.

Diners can enjoy food from around the world inside with traders including: Hector’s Mexicana; 600 Degrees Pizza; Down and Oot; Pitamu; Cone Head; Cake Corner; Pasta 51 Express; Allotment; and Blackhurst Butchers.

A brand new venture, Kaizen – which creates beautiful sushi and other small plates – will open this Wednesday (6th July), while Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group operates the feature bar in the centre.

Events regularly take place at Southport Market, including the weekly Thursday Night Live and the Thursday Artisan Market.

The Extravaganza events space in the building is used for a wide variety of functions and events, including the successful Southport Artists For Ukraine fundraiser earlier this year.

The Southport Market redesign scheme was led by Sefton Council’s Tourism Team, and was carried out thanks to £900,000 funding from the Government’s Town Deal initiative with a further £500,000 through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

North West architecture and design practice DV8 Designs led the interior design work at the market with a number of other firms also involved including IllumiDex UK Ltd, which provided beautiful lighting in the market entrance while also creating the beautiful wrought iron gates.
