Southport Learning Trust is celebrating an extraordinary week of fundraising, and student achievement, culminating in an unforgettable London Marathon weekend, raising nearly £18,000 for vital first aid training for their students.
Throughout the week, students across the Trust took part in a series of fundraising challenges in support of Cash for Kids. Their efforts included the Southport Trust Relay—a remarkable 30-mile route linking all schools—and the School Mini Marathon, where pupils proudly ran 2.6km to show their commitment to the cause.
Following this inspiring week of activity, 60 students travelled to London for a weekend packed with unforgettable experiences. A major highlight was their proud completion of the Mini Marathon in the capital. On Marathon Day, students lined the streets to cheer on five incredible Trust staff members who took on the iconic London Marathon.
All funds raised will directly support the rollout of Mini Medics first aid training across their Trust schools, ensuring young people gain essential lifesaving skills. Alongside this, the initiative is helping to raise vital awareness of the KnowKnifeCrime campaign, reinforcing our commitment to educating and empowering students to build safer, stronger communities.
Ian Raikes, CEO of Southport Learning Trust and one of this year’s London Marathon runners, said:

Our students have shown extraordinary commitment — not only in their fundraising efforts, but in the way they have embraced the message behind our work with Cash for Kids and the #KnowKnifeCrime initiative. Watching them run, support one another, and represent their schools with such pride has been a privilege. The funds raised will help us equip young people with vital first aid skills through Mini Medics, strengthening our school communities for the future. I could not be prouder of what they have achieved.”
