Southport Jazz Festival returns to Southport in winter 2025, with 10 superb shows featuring the very best in UK jazz artists to entertain audiences over three days.
From trio to big band, young performers to jazz legends, there is something for everybody over three days and nights.
The 2025 Southport Jazz Festival takes place at The Grand, Lord Street, Southport town centre, from Thursday, 30th January 2025 to Sunday, 2nd February 2025.
Tickets are on sale at the Southport Jazz Festival website: southportjazz.co.uk
Southport Jazz Festival is directed by Emma Murphy, Jez Murphy and Clifford Ray.
They said: “We are delighted to have launched the 2025 Southport Jazz Festival!
“After the huge successes of the last two years we go again, bringing top class shows to Southport.
“The support from people across the UK has been amazing and we can’t wait for January and February 2025 to do it all again.
“One again, we’ve secured a brilliant line-up of musicians with something to suit a variety of tastes.
“People can experience 10 top class British acts representing all forms of jazz.
“We are doing three shows on Friday, four on Saturday, three on Sunday, 3-4-3 – it sounds like a football formation!
“There is bebop with the Gaz Hughes Trio, we have Jeremy Sassoon returning with his Ray Charles show with his live band, a superb violinist in Ben Holden – he has huge energy! – and so many more.
“We have a really impressive line-up this year.
“We have a very equal mix of male and female jazz artists, as well as supporting up-and-coming talent, both of which are very important to us when programming our festival.
“We are pleased to present the incredibly talented Emily Masser, a 20-year-old jazz singer and saxophonist, who will be here with something we have never seen before.
“Emily comes from jazz royalty, with her Dad, Dean Masser, performing at the festival last year.
“The Patron of Southport Jazz Festival is the brilliant Liane Carroll, one of the greatest jazz musicians we have in the UK. We can’t wait to see Liane Carroll and Friends close the show on Sunday night, what better finale could we have. It’s going to be one of those nights you never forget!
“We are really pleased that Liane will be here with us the whole weekend. That will be lovely, because she is so gorgeous. While Liane is here in Southport, she is looking forward to doing some workshops with some eager local people.
“We are excited to have Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra back with us again.
“We are really keen to bring the joys of jazz to the younger generations. It’s important that young people have an opportunity to be involved in a festival like this.
“Our demographic at Southport Jazz Festival is really mixed, we have a relatively young audience, and it’s good to be able to bring more people into jazz.
“We are always trying to do things that are more inclusive and promote jazz to a younger audience.
“Once again, we have been flexible with tickets. You can buy tickets for each show; you can buy a day pass; or you can buy a weekend pass.
“Tickets are already selling very well.
“We have been building up a following since we took over the operation of Southport Jazz Festival and moved it to The Grand on Lord Street.
“It’s such a sensational venue for events, and the team at The Grand have been so supportive throughout.
“They cannot do enough for us; they have been fantastic to work with and we cannot thank them enough. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they really look after the small details. They have a really good team.
“As soon as you walk through the doors of this stunning art deco building and see the beautiful decor, you get the feeling straight away that you are coming in for something special.
“For people coming to the festival, there are great places to stay including the Lord Street Hotel next door and The Bold Hotel right over the road.
“The Grand and The Bold are beautiful places to eat, and there are lots of other great restaurants, cafes and bars nearby in Southport’s trendy ‘Northern Quarter’.
“We are looking forward to seeing everyone back at Southport Jazz Festival.”
