Southport FC Manager Jim Bentley with Chairman Peter Mitchell and Sporting Director Tammy Burgess

Southport FC Manager Jim Bentley has signed a contract extension at the Big Help Stadium to keep him at the club until June 2026.

The new boss, who took over earlier this season replacing Liam Watson, has overseen a dramatic change in fortunes for the Sandgrounders.

He has transformed the side from bottom of the table strugglers, to within three points of the play-off places.

Southport FC are at Home this Saturday (18th November 2023) against South Shields in the FA Trophy.

Jim Bentley said: “We have work to do here and the building blocks are in place and the foundations have been laid.

“I see a bright future for this club and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and really pleased to have signed an extension that will give me the time to stamp my way of working across the club.

“I feel with Peter and the Big Help Group in place we can now move things forward and I’m looking forward with great optimism to what lies ahead.

“There is a real feel good factor here, the supporters and players have been great since I arrived and really welcomed me in.

“I’d like to thank Peter and everyone at Big Help for putting their trust in me and also thank Ian and Liam for bringing me to the club.”
