Pupils and staff at Churchtown Primary School in Southport have created a heartfelt video called Pass On The Rainbow.
The video aims to bring a smile to families’ faces, remind them that the pupils are missing them whilst also thanking those in the NHS, school staff and other key workers for keeping us all safe.
Headteachers Mrs Payne and Mrs Taylor said: “Churchtown Primary School has remained partially open since the start of the lockdown period to provide for our most vulnerable children and the children of key workers in our community.
“We have also been busy delivering food parcels provided by Endeavour Learning Trust as well as food vouchers to a significant number of families, in a hope to make things more bearable in these uncertain times.
“We have also been working extremely hard creating weekly school packs to assist parents with home learning and making regular phone calls to all our children. The children in school have also enjoyed daily PE and music sessions alongside other creative projects.”
One of the projects they have really enjoyed is making a very special video.
Mrs Payne and Mrs Taylor said: “As a way of reaching out to all our children and families, the staff have created a heartfelt video entitled Pass on the Rainbow, hoping to bring a smile to their faces; to remind them that we are missing them and that we look forward to being back together again, whilst also thanking those in the NHS, school staff and other key workers for keeping us safe.
“Thank you is to go to Mrs Keen, our Year 4 teacher and year group leader, who coordinated and created this on behalf of the staff.
“The track Pass on the Rainbow was written and performed by talented musicians and singers from across Southport and surrounding areas, who formed The Rainbow Collective to release this song.”
The school, which is based on St Cuthbert’s Road in Churchtown, is normally busy with the happy sounds of over 700 children. But most of those are currently working from home, assisted with guidance and support from teaching staff, as they miss their friends and daily school life.
Mrs Payne and Mrs Taylor said: “To all the children and families of Churchtown Primary School, we hope you’re staying safe and well.
“We’re missing you all terribly and can’t wait to see you soon. In the meantime, we say hello and pass on the Rainbow of Love, as we think about all the hard work those in the NHS, school staff, and other key workers are doing to help us stay safe.”
