It was brilliant to see so many people at the recent Sandgrounders Business Club networking event at Southport Football Club – thank you for the warm reception and for taking the time to listen.
As promised, I wanted to follow up with a bit more detail about what we do at Southport FC Community Foundation, and share something exciting that’s coming up.
As many of you know, we do far more than football. Our work touches the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds right across Southport.
Keeping People Active & Connected
Our Walking Football sessions give older adults and those with limited mobility a reason to get out, stay active, and enjoy some great company. We run Powerchair Football for people with physical disabilities, and we work with spinal unit patients — using sport to help rebuild confidence and wellbeing after injury or surgery. Our Isolation Engagement Activities are also making a real difference in tackling loneliness across the town.
Supporting Families & Young People
We run a Food Club for families facing food insecurity, provide free half-term meals and activities for children on free school meals, and offer free match tickets and matchday experiences to schools, community groups, and young people in care. We’re also running high school community projects, inspiring young people to take pride in where they live and give something back.
Investing in Southport
We support 25 grassroots teams with coaching, facilities, and development pathways. We’re restoring 8 community pitches in partnership with KGV Sixth Form College in Southport.
We’ve established a community space in Southport town centre for groups, activities, and support services.
We’re working with local police to reduce anti-social behaviour, and running digital support sessions to help residents get online and build their confidence with technology.
Something You Can Get Involved In!
Occulo Lounge on Lord Street in Southport is hosting a charity 5-a-side football tournament on Sunday 29th June 2026, open to as many hospitality teams as possible from across Southport — and all funds raised come straight to Southport FC Community Foundation.
It’s just £10 per team to enter, and the more teams that take part, the more money we raise and the better the competition! Full details on location and time will be confirmed closer to the date.
I’d love to see some of your businesses or organisations put a team together!
It’s a brilliant opportunity to have a great day out, show some community spirit, and directly support the work we do here in Southport.
