Southport FC co-owner Kieran Malone is delighted the club is opening a new coffee shop in the former Pavilion cafe building in Southport

Southport Football Club are opening their very own coffee shop in Southport town centre, in collaboration with Southport Community Foundation.

They are excited to be converting the former Pavilion cafe in the Town Hall Gardens on Lord Street, a very central and accessible space for people to call in.

It is close to The Big Onion, a community hub which is opening in the former Crave cafe building in the Town Hall Gardens for a Christmas Market this Saturday (15th November 2025) while the Christmas Spectacular takes place outside before officially opening on Monday.

Southport Football Club’s goal is to create a friendly, community-based space in the town centre for people of all ages to come, while helping to raise funds that go directly back into supporting the SFC community.

The project is being led by Scott Blundell, whose passion for giving back shines through everything he does, from starting a wheelchair football team to running holiday camps and setting up food banks.

Southport FC co-owner Kieran Malone said:

“Southport Football Club really enjoys working with the Foundation.

“If it’s being part of the half term clubs, or wheelchair football, or anything else that we can get involved in, it really excites us.

“Getting this coffee shop going is a massive opportunity for the club and the Foundation.

“There’s going to be a lot of new things happening here.

“So if you or anyone you know might want to get involved in the Foundation – if that’s volunteering, or you know someone older who wants to join the Walking Club, or someone younger who wants to join our half term clubs, please message Southport Community Foundation via Instagram (4) Instagram or give them a follow so you can keep an eye on what’s coming up.

“It’s really exciting and we look forward to the future.”

Scott Blundell, the Lead for the Southport Community Foundation said:

“We’ve been working closely with Sefton Council and have put a proposal together to take over this empty Pavilion cafe building.

“All the money raised will go towards the activities we are currently doing, or maybe looking at new activities that we will do in the future.

“We’re looking at opening an inclusive hub.

“We’re opening a foodbank this week in the club itself in the old what was called The Fan Zone, but it’s now The Community Zone within the club.

“If you’d like to know more about what the Foundation does and how you can get involved, please get in touch.”
