Southport Football Club has announced a partnership with a new kit supplier after a challenging season which saw the Sandgrounders start the season without a home or away kit, followed by their subsequent supplier going into liquidation.

The club will partner with Macron Sportswear, as they thanked supporters for their “understanding and patience”.

Southport FC Chief Operating Officer Andy Burgess said:

“We are extremely excited to announce the agreement with Macron Sportswear, a leading sports manufacturer within the football industry.

“The past 12-months have seen us in the unprecedented situation of starting the first six weeks of the season without a home and away kit, our supplier going into liquidation and us having to negotiate problem after issue after disaster within our kit and retail departments.

“This has affected all areas of the club, and we have tried to get through the season with it having as minimal impact as possible, as hard as that has been.

“What has occurred was absolutely out of our hands and in no way could have been predicted or planned, and I thank the stakeholders who it has affected, and most importantly our supporters, for showing understanding and patience as we got through this campaign.

“What was vital was that I led a thorough and comprehensive tender process to ensure we landed on a manufacturer who understood our situation, and could commit to ensuring we wouldn’t be exposed to such a calamity next season.

“We needed to ensure we signed with a supplier which is reputable and credible, and that showed a real appetite to work with Southport Football Club.

“Macron Sportswear is a global brand but with an extremely personal approach, and they have shown a passion and desire to join us and be part of our Club. They know about our history, and they align with our excitement for the future.

“Their portfolio of international teams, Premier League, Football League and other National League clubs show them to be a leading name in their industry, and we hope this agreement signifies the start of what is a special time for Southport Football Club.”

Jon Ward of Macron Sportswear said:

“We are delighted to partner with Southport FC as their official technical kit supplier.

“Southport is a club with proud traditions, deeply rooted in the local community and it is our pleasure to welcome them to the Macron family.

“We look forward to providing the supporters, staff and players with our high performance bespoke teamwear throughout this exciting new chapter.”
