The Southport Comedy Festival, in association with Halliwell Jones Kia Southport, is delighted to reveal another major headline act for next year’s 15th annual festival — perfect timing for anyone still hunting for a last-minute Christmas gift.
German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn will bring his hit show Acid Wehn to Southport on Thursday 8th October 2026. This will be an extended version of the sold out show he performed at the festival in 2024, and marks one of the final dates of his huge UK tour.
“Acid Wehn” sees Henning take an unbiased look at climate change, a topic sure to delight audiences and no surprise. After all, everyone loves talking about the weather. Rain or shine, all will be fine. Or maybe it won’t. Who knows?! Come along. Or else.
A familiar face on TV and radio, Henning’s recent appearances include Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie To You?, House of Games, Live at the Apollo, Guessable, Question Time, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Fighting Talk, The Unbelievable Truth, and I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.

Henning becomes the third act announced for the 2026 programme, joining King of the One Liner Gary Delaney with his brand-new show Gary on Laughing on Friday 9th October 2026, and Laura Smyth, the rapidly rising comedy and TV star, bringing her show Born Agy to the festival on Thursday 15th October 2026.
The 15th annual Southport Comedy Festival runs from 2nd–18th October 2026, returning for the sixth year to the luxury, fully-seated and heated marquee provided by Elite Events, set in the stunning grounds of Victoria Park — home of the world-famous Southport Flower Show. Over 6,000 people attended in 2025, with a record-breaking ten sell-out shows, making it the most successful festival to date.
