Families are invited to support the Southport Charity Truck Run

Families are invited to support the Southport Charity Truck Run this weekend.

The fundraising event takes place this Saturday (7th September 2024) with local hauliers, tractors, vans and whoever is wanting to join in invited to meet at the start location which is: Huntapac Produce Ltd, Blackgate Lane, Tarleton, PR4 6JJ.

The meet up time is 5.30pm with the convoy leaving at 6pm / 6.15pm.

It is then estimated to be at:

ETA Tarleton – 6.30pm / 6.40pm

ETA Hesketh Bank – 6.45pm / 7pm

Lord Street, Southport – 7.20pm / 7.45pm

It takes place just over a month after the tragedy in which three young girls were killed and several children and adults were severely injured during a knife attack at The Hart Space in Southport on 29th July.

Southport Charity Truck Run organiser Ellen Smith said: “We will be leaving Huntapac via Southport New Road crossroads then going across onto Blackgate Lane into Tarleton before continuing through Tarleton into Hesketh Bank then onto Banks and Southport.

“We will then do a lap of Lord Street before ending up at Southport Pleasureland.

“Suzanne Claire will be the official event photographer and will be taking photos along the way and be on the final approach to the Pleasureland.

“After we have completed our route you’re more than welcome to join us.

“There will be a catering van, tea/coffee and a chance to get photos / have a walk around.

“MJ Griffiths and Total International will be leading the convoy out of Tarleton.

“There will be pink and white decorations, lights, stickers, flowers, bows etc for the vehicles.

“Strictly no overtaking, this will be a slow moving respectful convoy in built up areas.

“Please remember why this event is being held. Political views and racism will not be tolerated.

“There is enough hatred in this world right now, so let’s spread some happiness.

“Please make myself, Ellen Smith or Chris Rimmer aware of who is coming and the number of vehicles from each company so we can keep an eye on numbers!

“Thank you all so much for making this happen, I am truly overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of you all

“This is a charity organised event, any donations can be made here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/SouthportDanceEmergencyFund

“Every little helps! The Just Giving page is for The Hart Space dance club where the awful attacks took place.

“Let’s do our bit for the community and bring a smile back to Southport!

“I look forward to seeing you all.”
