Southport Auto Centre will host its annual Classic Car and Motorcycle Transport Fundraising Event this weekend.

The popular motoring celebration will take place between 10am and 4pm this Saturday (24th June 2023).

Local radio station Mighty FM will be there with their trailer, along with DJs Paul Tasker and Trevor Ford – plus a special appearance from Spiderman!

Special cars on display will include one driven by Sir Roger Moore in the original TV series The Saint, plus some related memorabilia.

There is no entry, with all welcome.

People will be able to raise money for the Macmillan cancer charity and Southport Lifeboat.

A whole host of classic and vintage cars will be parked up outside Southport Auto Centre at 31 Wright Street PR9 0TL in Southport town centre.

Adjacent car parks, including at neighbouring Southport College, will also be utilised to show off some very special vehicles.

The road will be closed off for the event.

Southport Auto Centre owner Chris Regan said: “We are holding our annual fundraising open day to help raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Southport Offshore Rescue Trust, Southport Lifeboat.

“A large selection of vintage classic cars, motorcycles and transportation will be on display.

“People can also expect some great raffle prizes and exclusive items to buy.

“Refreshments will be available all day.

“If anyone is interested in bringing along their vintage car or motorbike, please bring it down between 9am and 9.30am, before the road is closed. People are welcome on a first come first served basis, we are not able to book spaces.

“This will be our fifth event and we are really looking forward to it.

“We will have five car parks full of vehicles for people to come and see with lots of vintage cars, classic motorbikes, a vintage fire engine, and we are looking forward to Mighty Radio joining us.

“There will be lots going on for visitors to enjoy!

“There will be burgers, drinks, a raffle, motorcycle clothing, stalls, someone always comes along and plays his pianola.

“One vehicle that will be there is the original Volvo from the TV show The Saint.

“The owner will also bring along all kinds of paraphernalia to go with it for people to admire.

“The Volvo Vintage Owners Club will bring their vehicles along too.

“There will be a lot happening throughout the day.”

Chris Regan has run Southport Auto Centre for the past 22 years as a professional, friendly, family-run business.

It is the only independent Volvo specialist in the North West.
