A café manager who has built up a huge fan club among Southport’s dog owners is excited to see her premises back open again this Friday.
Emma Marshall, a Sandgrounder who travelled to the other side of the world before returning to manage Remedy in Churchtown, is as famous for her excellent coffees as she is for her love of collies.
During the past four months of coronavirus lockdown pining dogs have even been pictured scratching at the café’s doors as they waited desperately for it to reopen.
Remedy is situated at 33 Botanic Road, in the heart of the beautiful village of Churchtown, a perfectly placed retreat for those who enjoy life’s little pleasures. That includes owners (and pets) who love to stroll in and enjoy a treat as they enjoy a daily dog walk.
Remedy director Susannah Porter said: “Emma left Southport in 2007 to travel and ended up in New Zealand.
“In 2010 she moved to Australia where she first found her love of great coffee. There is a big coffee culture in Australia and Emma soon learned how to make the best cup of coffee.
“Coming back to Southport in 2014 Emma worked in hospitality until landing at the door of Remedy in 2017.
“Emma has been managing our Churchtown Café Bar since then and is famous for two things – her amazing coffee, which everyone has missed during lockdown, and her love of the village’s dogs!
“Emma has a Siberian Husky called Kaia and loves all the dogs that visit us every day in Churchtown. Many of her four-legged friends will not allow their owners to walk past the door without a cuddle and a treat from Emma.
“Our customers have sent us photos of their dogs scratching at the door during their lockdown walks.
“Emma and the crew are back at Remedy in Churchtown on Friday at 10am, call to book a table 01704 213573.
“Well behaved owners are welcome with their dogs – come and reacquaint yourself with Emma’s coffee made from our very own Remedy roasted beans.”
