Acclaimed local artist Ruth Spillane has unveiled a new Southport tote bag, featuring a brand new illustration.
Ruth’s first bag featured a series of buildings on the Victorian Lord Street boulevard, which includes the Nostalgia Tea Room and the Waterstones bookshop building.
Her newest version includes the Nostalgia Tea Room, Starbucks and Lavish Home on Lord Street.
The good news is she is currently working on new designs which will feature Birkdale and Churchtown.
Ruth has also produced new Love Southport and Sending Love cards which both feature prominent Southport town centre buildings.
Her artwork celebrates the very best of the resort’s beautiful architecture.
Ruth has travelled the world but insists “nothing compares to the variety and beauty we have here in Southport”.
She said: “I have now created a new Southport tote bag with a brand new Southport illustration.
“They are currently selling on Etsy www.Etsy.com/uk/shop/ruthspillanestudio and The Garden Room in Churchtown.
“My new cards are also selling on Etsy, at The Atkinson on Lord Street, Waterstones bookshop on Lord Street, Urban Attic on Market Street and The Garden Room in Churchtown.
“I have recently designed customised tote bags for the Nostalgia Tea Room on Lord Street as its new owners celebrate reopening the venue – with illustrations of their beautiful building on the front.
“I have been contacted by a number of business owners around Southport to create bespoke illustrations for promotional material / gift cards or shop front portraits.
“This has been such an exciting venture and I am enjoying illustrating our beautiful town through discovering new and upcoming businesses, here in Southport.”

Ruth is one of Southport’s greatest ambassadors through her art. It is a town she absolutely loves.
She said: “I have travelled around the world and seen the beautiful architecture of Paris, New York, Moscow – but nothing compares to the variety and beauty we have here in Southport.
“I just love our town’s history. We should be proud of our town centre for what it is, what it has been and what it will be.
“I am currently creating some illustrations of Birkdale and Churchtown that will be available on cards soon.”
Ruth has built up a growing following of fans through her stunning drawings of iconic landmarks in Southport, which she has posted into the Stand Up For Southport Facebook group over the past few months.
She also completes commissions of producing beautiful artwork of people’s homes.
