Phil Gee, founder of Social Media Academy and AI Academy, has marked 19 years as an agency owner in Southport. He is using the milestone to thank the clients, staff and supporters who have helped him along the way.

Phil started the business in 2007 as Online Guru. It became Agency Boom, then Social Media Academy, and is now also trading as AI Academy, which delivers plain-English AI training to business owners. Each change followed what local businesses needed at the time, from websites to social media to practical AI.

In that time the business has worked with more than 400 clients and built over 250 websites. It has managed social media for 140 businesses and trained 95 clients in social media skills. Another 44 have taken AI training since AI Academy launched.

Based at The Arch Workspace in Crossens, Southport, Phil works with small business owners across Merseyside, West Lancashire and the wider UK, including online. His focus now is helping overwhelmed owners cut time-consuming manual tasks and make AI useful in their day-to-day work, without the tech talk.

Phil Gee said:

“Nineteen years is a long time to be doing anything, and I couldn’t have done it without the clients who had faith in me, and the staff and friends who helped along the way.

“I have always tried to work with small business owners mainly because I feel most agencies tend to go after the bigger brands, plus I can relate more to independent business owners who are spinning lots of plates at the same time.”

To mark the anniversary, Phil is offering any business owner a free 30-minute Zoom chat about how AI could save them time. Sessions can be booked at ai-academy.org.uk/book.
