The new NEXT store enjoyed a large crowd of shoppers when it opened its door at Meols Cop Retail Park in Southport.
The red ribbon was officially cut by Manager Diane Swift and Assistant Manager Sam Shenton at 10am on Wednesday (25th March 2026).
The 13,000 sq ft store includes departments including: Womenswear, Menswear, Kidswear and Home. It also includes a Costa coffee concession.
The next Next store provides 45 jobs for local people, with an additional 12 staff taken on to add to the existing Next team moving from Central 12 retail park, plus 11 new colleagues for the Costa Coffee cafe.
It replaces the NEXT store at Central 12 retail park in Southport which closed earlier this month, on Sunday, 15th March 2026.
The new shop incorporates the newest NEXT store concept design; with maximised light, brand new feature wall finishes and flooring.
It adds to a booming retail park, which in recent months has seen the opening of a brand new Sainsbury’s supermarket; a new Mountain Warehouse; a new PureGym; and an expanded Home Bargains.

Speaking on Stand Up For Southport, the Thursday Night Sleepover team on Mighty Radio said: “It’s fantastic to see new shops opening… lots of exciting things happening in Southport!”
Linzi Johnson said: “I went to the opening, loved the tiled floor at the entrance, yes it’s a smaller store but had plenty of choices I found what I needed. The staff were friendly and helpful, I enjoyed my experience.”
Jill Brady said: “I went on the opening day, it was nice to see lots of familiar staff , lots of nice things, I enjoyed the Costa too, and there’s a loo.”
Jayne Cummins said: “Great news, Southport needs a clothes shop.”
Barbara Roberts said: “I remember going to this retail park before Sainsbury’s opened. My friend couldn’t believe there wasn’t anywhere for a coffee. Now there’s two!”
Customers can shop at the brand new NEXT store, offering free parcel pick ups and returns for online customers.
