Calling all the sporting heroes!
You’re invited to nominate the sportspeople, coaches or teams who you think should be honoured at the 2025 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.
The Sefton Sportsperson Of The Year Award is looking forward to nominations being submitted.

The winners and finalists will be honoured at the Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Friday, 25th April 2025.
Submissions are being sought from Bootle, Crosby, Southport, Formby, Maghull, Aintree, and across the borough.
Organisers are inviting people to nominate anyone who you think has achieved highly this year in any sport played locally – whether it’s football, Taekwondo, judo, netball, kickboxing, rugby, cricket, swimming, squash, hockey, gymnastics, or anything else.
Last year’s winner was Lisa Gawthorne
Lisa is an amazing athlete who won:
European age group duathlete champion (Italy) – gold medal for GB
World age group duathlete champion (Spain) – gold medal for GB
Mersey Tunnel 10K – female winner
Lisa runs and trains around Formby woods, Ainsdale and Southport while also managing a business, Bravura Foods.
Honoured as a Finalist was John Fenton
John Fenton is a tennis player and coach who is passionate about growing the sport of tennis in the community. He effectively runs Waterloo Lawn Tennis Club in all areas and works tirelessly to secure much-needed funding to keep the club going.
Also presented with a Finalist’s award was Zak Perzamanos
Zak is the 2023 Trampoline Gymnastics British Champion, who won a World Cup individual bronze medal in 2023.
He also qualified GBR an Olympic place in men’s trampoline for the Paris 2024 Olympic games by making the senior world championship final in November 2023.
Lynne is a resident of Maghull and every year raises money for local charities through her page The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards, organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport, is an unmissable fixture in the Liverpool City Region events calendar, in association with In Demand Radio.
The ceremony will be presented by In Demand Radio presenter Claire Simmo.
All those on the shortlist plus category sponsors will be invited to a special celebratory meal in the beautiful surroundings of The Princess Grace Suite at The Grand in Southport while the awards are presented, with a stunning night of entertainment planned.
Nominations are still being invited across all 13 categories ahead of the closing date of midnight on 2nd March 2025.
