Local businesses play a huge role in improving their local community here in Sefton.

It’s time the ones who go the extra mile to do that are honoured – so we’re asking you to nominate them for this year’s Pride Of Sefton Awards.

The winner of the 2024 Business In The Community Award, sponsored by In Demand Radio, will be awarded with a Pride Of Sefton Awards trophy – plus a free 10-week In Demand Radio airtime campaign including advert production worth £3,000.

Organisers are inviting your nominations from Southport, Bootle, Crosby, Formby, Maghull, Aintree, and across the borough.

Please submit via the website: prideofseftonawards.co.uk or email your nominations to: standupforsouthport@gmail.com

The winners and finalists will be honoured at the Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Friday, 26th April 2024.

In Demand Radio presenter Claire Simmo, who will be hosting the 2024 awards alongside Fraser Dainton, said:

“We are really excited to see the nominations for this year’s Sefton Business In The Community Awards.

“There’s a fantastic prize on offer, with specialised radio advert production and a 10-week In Demand Radio airtime campaign giving a real boost to this year’s winner.

“The 2024 Pride Of Sefton Awards is going to be a very emotional evening, hearing the stories about all those people and groups in our community who go above and beyond, making a difference to the lives around them.

“It could not have been held in a better venue. The Grand has been a fabulous addition to Sefton since it opened last year. The nominees, the sponsors, and all our guests are in for a truly memorable evening.”

Last year’s Business In The Community Award winners were Brendan Riley and Val Brady, who host a variety of events through Big Comedy UK and through Comedy Bingo, through which they have entertained audiences while helping to raise large sums for a variety of charities and good causes.

They run the annual Southport Comedy Festival and the Salt & Tar Comedy Weekender in Bootle, which host some of the biggest names in comedy as well as welcoming visitors from all over the region, providing a boost to local hotels, restaurants and other local businesses.

Last year they launched the new Comedy Bingo Socials at Southport Market.

Finalist in the Business In The Community Awards in 2023 was Babyballet Southport, Formby & Crosby, owned by Jennifer Berrett, which has been supporting the community and raising thousands of pounds for charities in Sefton and nationally for the past 14 years.

The second Finalist was Nobody Left Behind CIC, which works in communities to get young people skilled and into employment. It is funded by Merseyside Police to deliver sport, education and employment to under 25s.

The Pride Of Sefton Awards sponsored by The Grand Southport and organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport, is an unmissable fixture in the Liverpool City Region events calendar, in association with In Demand Radio

The ceremony will be presented by In Demand Radio presenter Claire Simmo and former Sky Sports News presenter Fraser Dainton.

All those on the shortlist will be invited to a special celebratory meal in the beautiful surroundings of The Princess Grace Suite at The Grand in Southport while the awards are presented, with a stunning night of entertainment planned.

Nominations are still being invited across all 13 categories ahead of the closing date on 22nd March 2024.
