GCSE pupils at Scarisbrick Hall School near Southport have been praised for their “immense strength, determination and resilience” during the most challenging school year in living memory.
Students at the school were delighted to return to collect their results today, after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted their learning from March onwards.
A school spokesperson said: “At Scarisbrick Hall our pupils are individuals not numbers.
“They are not defined by an algorithm and have displayed immense strength, determination and resilience.
“The pandemic has taken so much from all of us, making it even more important that we celebrate our amazing pupils, their academic achievements and how they have grown into outstanding young men and women.
“Academically pupils have achieved strong results with 74% of grades at 9-7(A*-B) with all pupils achieving 100% 9-4 (A*-C). 40% of the pupils achieved all of their grades at 9-7 (A*-A).
“The GCSE results this year continue the tradition of high achievement at Scarisbrick Hall. Top performing pupils include Alex Ward who achieved 10 subjects at grade 9 (A*) and Niamh Jefferson who achieved 11 subjects at grade 9-7 (A*-A)
“The staff at Scarisbrick Hall wish to extend many congratulations to all of our pupils this year.”
