There’s definitely the hint of positivity in the air, once again, across Southport this week.

The nights are getting lighter, we’ve had a few sunny afternoons as well and there’s a lot of talk regarding the town’s future with the new Theatre and all the other exciting plans regarding the Town Deal.

It’s also really nice to see lots of local businesses preparing their plans to re-open after months of uncertainty too.

Never have the words ‘Support Local’ be more important than now.

We’re lucky, here in Southport, to have such a great variety of local businesses, right across the town and here on Sandgrounder Radio we’re really proud to be working with some of them.

It’s equally nice to see the local pubs and restaurants that will be offering outdoor food and drink from April onwards, following the current road map, preparing to welcome back customers. We’re so lucky to have some amazing businesses like these in Southport, situated in some amazing locations across the town.

That word ‘local’ is very important, it’s that word which is key to supporting and helping Southport. As a local independent, commercial radio station, we at Sandgrounder Radio are proud to support so many local businesses and organisations.

For instance, Southport Baby Bank is a fabulous local charity and we’re so pleased to be supporting them with donations from our 2021 Easter Egg Appeal, in turn we’ve had so much support for the appeal, again, from local people and businesses.

There’s still time to get your donations dropped off at one of our drop off points including Curlett Jones Estates on Lord Street, McDonalds at Ocean Plaza, where you can even pass your donations through the drive thru window. As well as Morrisons Southport, Asda Southport, Co-op on Fylde Road in Marshside, Co-Op at the Churchtown Lights and iSight Clinics on Lulworth Road in Southport.

The deadline for donations is Friday 26th March so we can then distribute them, following all current government guidelines and restrictions, to Southport Baby Bank and Alder Hey Children’s Charity in time for Easter.

It really is heart warming to have so much support, again, from local people, businesses and organisations.

We’ve equally had a great couple of weeks working with some great local businesses in the town as part of our Mother’s Day Giveaways competitions. In total, we had £320 of prizes from local businesses up for grabs and a prize to be won each day. Again, a big thank you to them for all their support.

We’ve also got lots of exciting plans in the pipeline, moving forward as restrictions start to ease, all of which we’ll be revealing very soon.

Again, it goes back to those words ‘Support Local’.

The light at the end of the tunnel is getting nearer and we’re very much looking forward to continuing on that journey to a really bright looking future for our Town, the people, businesses and organisations within it.
