People are being invited to join in a clean-up of saltmarsh this March after a large amount of tidal rubbish was washed ashore by a series of recent storms and high tides.

‘Love My Marsh – Big Clean Up’ takes place in Marshside on Saturday, 26th March, between 11am and 3pm.

Anyone interested is asked to meet at the RSPB car park, Marshside Reserve, Marine Drive, Southport.

An RSPB spokesperson said: “Join RSPB staff and volunteers to help us clear litter and tidal debris from this important stretch of Saltmarsh.

“Seasonal high tides and recent storms have brought in large quantities of unsightly and damaging tidal rubbish.

“Tools, gloves and training will be provided on the day.

“Please wear suitable clothing and footwear as this is an exposed site and can be very muddy. “Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Unfortunately, this activity is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. No dogs please.

“This is a drop-in event so there is no need to book.

“This event is free but donations are always welcome.”
