Popular Southport’s live music venue, Royales, has raised £560 with the help of local musicians and customers during ‘The Proms at Royales’ Music festival for Help Musicians Charity.
‘The Proms at Royales’ Music festival played host to over 21 local musicians and featured four nights of live music of different genres from Jazz, Blues and Soul to Rock & Pop, Folk, Celtic & Easy Listening and the Finale held on Friday 15th April – Classical & Opera night.
The Proms featured local singers, musicians including saxophonists, classical guitarists and ukulele players amongst others.
Local well-known talent included: Dave Walker, Jo Henderson, Via, Me & Blue, John Brindle, Mike Howarth, Kevin Spofforth, Old Enough To Know Better, Jagpie, Katy Bonney, Alan Unsworth, John McCabe, Ken Waters, Paul Henderson and The Opera Stars featuring Jenny Wren, Cassandra Kotchie and Ramzi.
All of the artists gave up their time and talent for the Proms nights, in support of the charity Help Musicians.
Owners of the bar said: “Music festivals are a great attraction for our town and we have really missed them over the last few years. We wanted to give back to our wonderful community of musicians who have supported us since we opened last May and Help Musicians is a fantastic charity which has funded many musicians during the pandemic.”
No stranger to fundraising, Jenny and Cassandra along with The Rainbow Collective raised money for Help Musicians last year writing and recording a hit song – ‘Play That Song To Me’ which featured on ITV Granada Reports, Stand Up For Southport and other media across the North West.
Royales live music venue on Lord Street has rapidly become a thriving place to be for musicians and audiences alike in Southport.
Featuring several live music nights a week has certainly drawn in the crowds and you will find it difficult to get a seat on Tuesday’s Acoustic Nights which often feature 10 acts including local professional and ‘up and coming’ musicians and vocalists. If you would like to take part, please message Royales’ facebook page directly.
Live music features every Friday and Saturday night, and Saturday and Sunday day. Regular performers include Dickie McStein, Jenny Wren, Dave Walker, The Silver Freds, Jagpie, Restless Angels – to name a few. On Sunday nights, you’ll be treated to local musicians having a ‘jam’.
The venue has been praised for a warm and welcoming atmosphere, its impressive 12 foot wall mounted electric guitar, beautiful ceiling lights, great drinks and modern yet comfortable seating.
