Reginald D Hunter, Ed Byrne and Jo Caulfield are starring at Southport Comedy Festival

The organisers of the 2022 Southport Comedy Festival have announced THREE more top names for this year’s event.

Following their performances at last year’s festival award winning comedy giants Reginald D Hunter, Ed Byrne and Jo Caulfield will be making a return to Victoria Park in Southport in a heated and seated luxury marquee courtesy of Elite Marquees.

Reginald D Hunter will be performing a work in progress show on Sunday, 2nd October, the first Sunday of the festival.

Since his arrival in the UK over 20 years ago Reginald’s searingly honest observations both onstage and on TV and Radio have garnered him a cross-generational fan base. His many TV appearances have included Have I Got News For You?,QI, Live at the Apollo and two series of the BBC2’s hugely popular Reginald D Hunter’s Songs Of The South & Songs of The Border, documenting Reginald’s epic road trip through 150 years of American popular song.

Reginald has become one of the Comedy industry’s best-known performers for his distinctive take on the most diverse range of subjects. His work can be brutally honest and is often considered to be controversial but it is always meticulously thought out and he has never been afraid to face challenging issues head on even when the focus is on his own principles or beliefs.

Ed Byrne and Jo Caufield will be performing together on a double bill on Sunday 9th October in one fantastic night of comedy.

Irish comedian Ed Byrne has become a household name from his numerous TV appearances including The Pilgrimage, Top Gear, QI, Dara & Ed’s Road To Mandalay, Dara & Ed’s Big Adventure, Mock The Week, Graham Norton Show, Have I Got News For You, Live At The Apollo presenting stints on Comic Relief Bake Off. TV career aside, his live work has built up legions of fans both in the UK and abroad. Ed Byrne remains the observational stand up to see and his live work is not to be missed

Whether you’ve seen her on TV shows such as “Have I Got News For You” or “Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow”, heard her on the radio on “Just a Minute” or “Stop The Press”, or caught her live at one of her award-winning Edinburgh Festival shows, the chances are you’re already familiar with Jo’s work.

Described by The Observer as “one of the finest female comics at work”, Jo Caulfield received the prestigious Circuit Comedian of the Year 2021 award as voted by her peers in the Comedy Industry.

Behind scenes Jo is a respected writer, having served as a writer / programme consultant on all five series of Graham Norton’s BAFTA Award winning “So Graham Norton” and as head writer on both Ruby Wax’s “Waiting Game” and Zoe Ball’s “Strictly Dance Fever”. Jo has also written for – among others – Joan Rivers, Ant & Dec and Anne Robinson.
