Radio legend Baz Todd has announced his retirement from working on live radio.
The Southport resident will enjoy his last month on air this October, 25 years after his first ever broadcast, when he was a DJ at Rock FM in Preston.
He will remain a familiar face on the North West scene however, as he continues to build his Baz Todd Events.
The firm provides DJ Hire and Wedding DJs across the North West.
The former In Demand Radio drive time and Rock FM presenter said: “In September 2001, I sat at a radio desk and did my first ever broadcast as a radio presenter from an old church in Preston (Rock FM). 25 years on I’m still doing it, albeit many different radio stations in that 25 year period.
“I’ve had the pleasure of being on stage in front of 25,000 people at Ewood Park in Blackburn, broadcasted from warmer climates, rubbed shoulders with ‘pop stars’, royalty too, I had prisoners in nick bouncing in their cells every Sunday!
“I’ve worked with some amazing people, some absolute whoppers too.
“Radio has given me memories, friendships, experiences and opportunities that I’ll carry with me forever, and so after all these years, it feels like the right time for me to announce… I’m retiring.
“October will be my last month on air. Now I’m 95% certain you actually couldn’t give a toss if I’m retiring or not.
“This news isn’tRadioToday worthy so I thought I’d make myself feel important and write my retirement as a Facebook status, the radio ego will never leave me!
“I’m ONLY retiring from the radio, everything else is still carrying on, business as usual, no time to rest yet, that’ll be happening in 25 years.”
