Queenscourt will celebrate Hospice Care Week this October – a national campaign which shines a light on the wonderful and inspirational care that hospices deliver across the UK.
The campaign, coordinated by Hospice UK, runs from 7th to 13th October 2024.
This year’s theme is centred around hospice retail, and the role it plays in funding hospice services.
Queenscourt currently has five shops across West Lancashire, Formby and Southport, each of which sell a variety of items from clothing, bric-a-brac and children’s toys.
In the past year alone, our shops have raised more than £500,000 to support hospice services.
This incredible achievement was made possible through the donation of 186,075 items and the loyal support of 96,660 customers.
Our five shops are located at: Bispham Road, Southport; Liverpool Road, Burscough; Cambridge Road, North Churchtown; Brows Lane, Formby; and Chapel Street, Southport.
The success of our shops is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our retail team.
We are proud to employ five store managers, two assistant managers, an E-commerce manager, three bank managers, two deputy retail area managers, and two bank maintenance assistants, all of whom work tirelessly to keep the shops running smoothly.
We are also fortunate to have the support of 427 active volunteers who generously donate their
time to help operate the shops. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer, donor, and
customer who supports us.
During Hospice Care Week, we will be shining a light on our wonderful retail staff and volunteers, as well as some exciting events, including Liverpool Fashion Week and a visit from the Cllr June Burns, Mayor of Sefton – so keep an eye out on our social media!
Kate Tipton Thomas, head of income generation and communications at Queenscourt, said:
“Hospice Care Week is an excellent opportunity to shine a light on the compassionate care
delivered by #teamqueenscourt – all of which would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our retail and fundraising teams. Not only do our retail shops generate much needed income for our charity, but they also help the environment by encouraging customers to
shop locally and sustainably, protecting our planet for the future.
