The Princess Grace Suite at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport

As The Grand in Southport celebrates its first birthday this month, the venue’s Princess Grace Suite has been hailed as “the premier function venue in the region”.

The Grand opened its doors in July 2022 and has already enjoyed a £4 million transformation, with more investment from Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group to follow.

The busy brasserie restaurant and the stylish Chloe’s piano bar on the ground floor opened last summer.

They were followed by the opening of the Princess Grace Suite on the first floor in October.

Since then, the function suite has become a favourite space in the region for weddings, anniversaries, conferences, and many other celebrations.

There have been several successful big events, such as the first ever Pride Of Sefton Awards in April, a truly emotional evening which recognised the very best community figures from across the borough.

There have been fortunes raised for charities such as ICU Steps through successful fundraising nights following owner Andrew Mikhail’s own six-month battle against Covid-19 which left him in intensive care and determined to give something back to the NHS.

There have been celebrity events with stars such as champion boxer Tony Bellew, while England World Cup legend Paul Gascoigne is on the bill this September.

The room is rarely quiet with other nights out for people to enjoy.

The Old Time Sailors sees 17 talented musicians transport you back to the 19th century on Saturday 26th August, while you can enjoy a Country Disco Bingo night on Friday, 8th September.

Christmas bookings are now being made with nights including a Great Gatsby Evening on Saturday 16th December. The evening’s ‘Roaring Twenties’ glamour is perfect for an Art Deco building that first opened in 1923 and is celebrating its 100th birthday this year.

Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group owner Andrew Mikhail said:

“The Princess Grace function suite has become the premier function space in the region.

“There is nowhere else like it in terms of quality.

“It is the best wedding venue in Southport, we have been getting huge interest from couples planning for their big day.

“It has the history, with the famous Disney windows; during the day it has beautiful views looking across Lord Street with the light flooding into the room; at night you can look out and see the trees lit up along Lord Street.

“We have had lots of fantastic comments from families who have enjoyed their wedding celebrations here with us.
