People in Sefton who have performed remarkable acts of bravery are being sought for this year’s Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.

The Sefton Courage Award, sponsored by Capelli Hair Studio in Southport, wants to honour those who have acted in a selfless way to help others in need.

Organisers are inviting your nominations from Southport, Bootle, Crosby, Formby, Maghull, Aintree, and across the borough.

Please submit via the website: prideofseftonawards.co.uk or email your nominations to: standupforsouthport@gmail.com

The winners and finalists will be honoured at the Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Friday, 26th April 2024.

Last year’s winner was Josh Cropper, who rescued five terrified dogs who were trapped inside a burning building in Southport. Josh then leapt over the fence to extinguish the blaze before it destroyed the family’s home or spread to neighbouring properties.

The 2024 Sefton Courage Award is sponsored by Capelli Hair Studio, an established family business that has stood proud on Roe Lane in Southport over the past two decades.

Capelli Hair Studio Directors Peter and Helen Equizi said: “We have run Capelli Hair Studio in Southport for the past 18 years and are really proud of our community.

“We always aim to do all we can to support local people so are delighted to be able to sponsor the Courage category in the 2024 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.

“We would love to hear your stories of courage, from people right across Sefton, and are really looking forward to celebrating this year’s winner and finalists at The Grand in Southport.

“There are so many acts of heroism, courage or bravery that go unrecognised – and we’d like to change that.

“Maybe you know someone in Sefton who has performed a dramatic rescue. Perhaps someone has overcome illness or injury to record inspiring achievements.

“Please get in touch and let us know who you think deserves to be honoured at The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.”

The awards, sponsored by The Grand Southport and organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport, is an unmissable fixture in the Liverpool City Region events calendar, in association with In Demand Radio

The ceremony will be presented by In Demand Radio presenter Claire Simmo and former Sky Sports News presenter Fraser Dainton.

All those on the shortlist will be invited to a special celebratory meal in the beautiful surroundings of The Princess Grace Suite at The Grand in Southport while the awards are presented, with a stunning night of entertainment planned.

Nominations are still being invited across all 13 categories ahead of the closing date on 22nd March 2024.
