The Marine Lake in Southport is set to become a sea of paddle boarding Santas once again this December!

The kind-hearted paddle boarders from SUPNorth will be showing their support for the annual Santa Sprint which raises money for Queenscourt Hospice every year.

They will be out once again on Sunday, 3rd December, wearing festive fancy dress and putting smiles on the faces of hundreds of runners as they pound their way along the Promenade in red Fathers Christmas suits.

A SUPNorth organiser said: “On Sunday December 3rd 2023 we’ll be turning Southport Marine Lake red and white once again, with a flotilla of fancy-dressed SUPing Santas (and elves, trees, reindeers…)

“It’s our 10th annual Santa SUP and we would love for you to join us for a milestone paddle.

“We will be raising money once again for Queenscourt Hospice and seeing off the hundreds taking part in the annual Santa Sprint, who will be running around the lake.

“We are grateful for donations from paddlers, and will drop monies directly to Queenscourt Hospice race HQ on the pier.

“Southport Sailing Club are kindly hosting us once again, which means free parking from 9.30am, use of the facilities including changing rooms, toilets and indoor spectating for non-paddlers, and hot drinks from the galley.

“Park from 9.30am to get ready. We’ll get on the water at 10.30am to greet the Santa Sprinters on the Promenade at 11am. Please ensure you leave the car park by 12.30pm.

“There will be festive snacks provided for paddlers and spectators. And a prize for the best fancy dress.

“All welcome on any boards or paddle craft. Please invite anyone who you think may like to come along! After the paddle we plan to retire to the Guelder Rose pub for a well-earned carvery and a Christmas drink.”
