The annual Orange Lodge Parades will take place in Southport and Liverpool on Saturday 11th July 2026.
This year’s parades are expected to attract a large number of followers from around the UK, as they celebrate their 150th Anniversary of being part of the reformed Loyal Orange Institution of England since 1876.
This year’s Orange Lodge parades will coincide with the opening weekend of the 154th Open Golf Championship at Royal Birkdale in Southport.
A Liverpool Provincial Grand Orange Lodge spokesperson said: “This year as the 12th falls on a Sunday the Liverpool Provincial Grand Orange Lodge will be parading in Liverpool and Southport on Saturday 11th July 2026.
“ This is a special year for the Province as they celebrate their 150th Anniversary of being part of the reformed Loyal Orange Institution of England since 1876.
“Also a rare occasion that when the 12th falls on a Sunday it allows many of the members to travel to other parades in Northern Ireland as they walk on the Monday (13th) every few years. The next time this will happen will be in 11 years time.
“As this is the case we hope to see many visitors from Scotland and Northern Ireland attending the Liverpool and Southport parade.
“Due to these circumstances we will have two visiting flute bands walking with us from Ulster.
“The parade will once again see the Traditional Orange Lodges commemorating the 336th Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne that took place in 1690.
“The Officers along with their guests from Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as the Provincial King Queen and Retinue will parade from Mill Street in the South End of the city.”
“The Provincial Grand Master Steve Kingston says that he “anticipates once again a large attendance as this is the second year in a row that the parade has fallen on a Saturday, but this year also has the advantage of members from Scotland and Northern Ireland being able to travel here for our celebrations.”
This year The Lord Carson Memorial (named after the MP Sir Edward Carson) District number 9 will lead the parade.
The District is based in the Garston area and has a rich history within the Liverpool Provincial Grand Orange Lodge.
To mark the occasion of the 150th Anniversary again this year a newly designed ‘Orange Arch ‘was commissioned at the Provincial Orange Hall in Everton Road.
The 12th July Parade this year (on the 11th July) will see some of the members walking through the Orange Arch at the Provincial Headquarters.
As in previous years The ‘Twelfth’ parade will consist of around 70 Lodges, with some of the children dressed as King William III and Queen Mary, they will be led by this year by the Star of Toxteth concertina and accordion band. Also on parade will be other concertina, accordion and pipe bands, as well as for the first time in a few years, two large flute bands.
The main parades will move off from Netherfield Road and Corn Street in the Dingle in Liverpool around 8.30am (Dingle) and 9am ( Netherfield Road) on Saturday morning 11th July 2026.
The parades will make their way to Liverpool City Centre and meet around the vicinity of Lime Street to board buses to Southport.
The parade will form up on London Street, Southport, at approximately 11.15 am.
When the parade arrives in Southport, Liverpool members hope to be joined by many more members from all over England including many cities from the United Kingdom being represented.
As well as more Senior Officers from The Grand Orange Lodge of England who will walk within the parade, also some more visitors from Scotland and Northern Ireland will also join the parade to celebrate the day.
A Liverpool Provincial Grand Orange Lodge spokesperson said: “We again expect large crowds to be on the streets of Southport during the parade. There is always a carnival atmosphere enjoyed by all who make their way to watch it.
“The parade will continue through to King’s Gardens in Southport, to disperse. The return parade through Southport will begin at 4.4 pm.
“In the evening the parade will leave at around 7pm from Pall Mall in Liverpool making its way through Liverpool City Centre, where we expect big crowds to gather to watch the parade along the route back to Everton Road and the Dingle.
“There may be some traffic disruption during the morning and evening in the city centre of Liverpool and Southport.”
