Building work at Werksy is continuing, with the new facility on track to open in January 2024.

The beautiful new co-working space is suitable for sole traders, small businesses, project teams and others.

Werksy is due to open across three floors at 30 West Street, with the ability to host up to 65 members workers in a variety of spaces.

Owners Sarah and Rick Blaney are aiming to open the doors once work is complete this January, with the exact opening date to be announced.

The new facility is suitable for a variety of users, from those looking for an escape from squeezing onto a table at home to small companies looking to upscale.

There is an open plan office on the second floor of the building where workers can co-work alongside other professionals, while the mezzanine third floor hosts offices which can accommodate small firms. There is a meeting room that members or external users can utilise.

There is space for more small firms on the top floor.

Sarah Blaney said: “We have had lots of interest in Werksy! People have been talking about this place, which is much needed in Southport.

“We have spoken with people who have been commuting to co-work in Liverpool.

“We desperately need somewhere like Werksy here in Southport and lots of people have been in touch.

“We have spoken with a digital firm who are interested in taking one of the 24/7 offices upstairs.

“One of our small office spaces has been taken by a group of friends who all work in financial services.

“Over 60 people have registered with us, so we think this place is going to be busy!

“It’s going to be great for working, for networking, for working alongside other professionals instead of being sat inside the dining room at home.

“We are looking forward to welcoming people to our Preview Evening on Thursday, 7th December where they can come and chat with us, and have a look around Werksy to see what they think.

“It will be very casual, just call in between 5pm and 6.30pm, but please register in advance so we know how many people will be coming.”

Rick Blaney said: “We have been getting very good feedback about Werksy!

“Lots of people have heard about it, which is great.

“InvestSefton, from Sefton Council, has contacted us, and Southport BID is keen to support us too.

“It is generating some real buzz steam which is nice. There has been lots of interest.

“Southport is like a big village sometimes – word has gone round very quickly!

“Werksy is a very flexible space. People can come in here full time, or they can hot desk and drop in, they can come in and be part of a community.”

Werksy is being developed by successful local business owners Rick and Sarah Blaney, who have run the award-winning Stamford rooms and self catering apartments for the past five years.

Sarah Blaney said: “Hopefully we can create a collaborative business hub where you can come in, enjoy some peace from the kids or the pets, and spend some time working alongside some like-minded entrepreneurs in a professional and friendly environment.”
