The first ever ‘Sefton Huddle’ proved to be a resounding success with a busy first event – and plans for more.

The networking event saw experts from the borough’s digital, creative and tech businesses meet in what will become a regular occasion.

It was hosted by InvestSefton, Sefton Council’s business support and inward investment service.

Kevin Horton, Architect Director at K2 Architects, gave a presentation and answered questions on the new Southport Enterprise Arcade which is due to open on Eastbank Street next year.

The Sefton Huddle was a very well-attended gathering in the impressive location of the Southport and Birkdale Sports Club on Trafalgar Road in Birkdale. A separate function was taking place in the room next door with D’Vine Catering, the on-site caterers at S&B, working hard to ensure that everyone in the building was well catered for.

The proceedings were well-led by InvestSefton Business Growth Adviser Julie Swarbrick.

She spoke about how the new Sefton Huddle initiative is open to all Sefton-based DCT (digital, creative and tech) businesses, with forums business-led.

The primary focus is to facilitate networking, to support collaboration and to see the creation of mutually beneficial business opportunities.

There will also be regular business support updates from Invest Sefton, which will host meetings as they take place three times per year (February / June / November).

An open discussion saw guests discuss whether to keep membership as Sefton DCT members only or whether to admit other aligned services; whether to hold events in Southport or to move around the borough; and whether to focus on networking or to include short talks by

specialists on subjects such as cyber security, AI and business support.

The next Sefton Huddle meetings will be held on 8th June 2023 and 2nd November 2023.

Other Invest Sefton events coming up include:

  • Business Mental Health workshop – 23rd March
  • Financial & Prof Services Network – 27th April
  • Digital Marketing workshop – 11th May
  • Sefton Economic Forum – 15th June
