A new jewellers is due to open in Southport town centre.

Ramsdens Jewellers will open in the former VFM shop on Chapel Street, which opened in October 2022.

VFM maintains its sister site, Hidden Treasures, which takes up the second floor in Beales department store on Lord Street.

Contractors are currently carrying out a refit of the shop unit, which was previously occupied by Tienne jewellers.

It is a further boost to Chapel Street, which has enjoyed a resurgence in recent months with new businesses including The Fragrance Shop, Waterstones, One Below and Hugo Lounge, while work is due to start on the transformation of the former BHS department store into new apartments, shops and a bar.

Ramsdens has branches located on high streets throughout Northern England, Southern England, Scotland and Wales and offers a range of services.

Nearly all of the branches have the appearance of a jewellers but also contain bank style counters that provide a mix of financial services.

At the jewellery counters and displays shoppers can view and buy new and second hand jewellery at great value.

In the bank style financial area they can pick up travel money for holidays, arrange a pawnbroking loan or sell unwanted jewellery.

The first Ramsdens branch opened in 1987 in Stockton-on-Tees.
